Customer-Centric Approach

Wycliffe attributed the company's success to its focus on solving local challenges. "We built our platform specifically for Kenyan consumers, with features like M-Pesa integration, flexible delivery options, and customer support in local languages," he explained.

The company's data shows that 65% of its customers are first-time online shoppers, indicating success in bringing e-commerce to new segments of the population.

Future Plans

To celebrate the milestone, E-Shop Kenya is launching a "1 Million Thanks" campaign with special discounts and giveaways for customers throughout February.

The company also announced ambitious plans for continued growth:

  • New fulfillment center in Mombasa to serve coastal region customers faster
  • Farmer-to-consumer fresh produce marketplace launching in Q2 2023
  • Swahili voice search functionality coming to the mobile app
  • 3 million customer goal by 2025 with expanded product categories

"While we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on our long-term vision to transform retail across East Africa," Wycliffe added.
