E-Shop Kenya Reaches 1 Million Customers
Nairobi, Kenya - E-Shop Kenya today announced it has reached the significant milestone of serving 1 million customers across Kenya since its launch in 2020, marking rapid growth in the East African e-commerce sector.
"This achievement reflects the growing trust in online shopping among Kenyan consumers and validates our mission to make e-commerce accessible to everyone. Reaching 1 million customers in just three years is a testament to our team's hard work and our customers' loyalty."
- Wycliffe Shem, CEO E-Shop Kenya
Three Years of Rapid Growth
The company achieved this milestone just three years after its founding, becoming one of the fastest-growing e-commerce platforms in the region.
Launched in Nairobi with 10 employees and 50 merchant partners
Expanded to 5 major counties and reached 250,000 customers
Added Swahili support, expanded to 15 new counties, and introduced BNPL
Celebrated 1 million customers and announced Mombasa expansion
Customer-Centric Approach
Wycliffe attributed the company's success to its focus on solving local challenges. "We built our platform specifically for Kenyan consumers, with features like M-Pesa integration, flexible delivery options, and customer support in local languages," he explained.
The company's data shows that 65% of its customers are first-time online shoppers, indicating success in bringing e-commerce to new segments of the population.
Future Plans
To celebrate the milestone, E-Shop Kenya is launching a "1 Million Thanks" campaign with special discounts and giveaways for customers throughout February.
The company also announced ambitious plans for continued growth:
- New fulfillment center in Mombasa to serve coastal region customers faster
- Farmer-to-consumer fresh produce marketplace launching in Q2 2023
- Swahili voice search functionality coming to the mobile app
- 3 million customer goal by 2025 with expanded product categories
"While we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on our long-term vision to transform retail across East Africa," Wycliffe added.
